The Commission for Energy Regulation
(CER) has appointed the Register of Gas Installers of Ireland
(RGII) to operate as the new Gas Safety Supervisory Body.
The RGII now has responsibility for regulating the work of natural
gas installers (including installation and servicing of gas appliances)
from a safety perspective.
From June 26th 2009, all natural gas installers
must be registered with RGII in order to carry out domestic natural
gas works.
It will be an offence for any person to carry out domestic natural
gas works unless they are registered as a Registered Gas Installer
with RGII.
